While Facebook and Instagram face a backlash over privcy settings, Twitter is having a nice run in to Christmas.
According to Techcrunch, they now have over 200m monthly active users:

Twitter Passes 200M Monthly Active Users, A 42% Increase Over 9 Months
Twitter has announced via its own official Twitter account that the service now has more than 200 million monthly active users, an increase of 60 million from the 140 million milestone it shared ...
This means that the company have doubled their userbase in just over a year - in September 2011 there were 100m monthly active users.
When it comes to news, views, and gossip online Twitter has become the place to be. Journalists now use Tweets instead of quotes! It's no wonder then that more and more people sign up to the service, and they clearly are. However, I do wonder how many people run multiple accounts e.g. for themselves and a company, or have a work and personal profile.
That said, it's hard to deny the growth and influence of this new giant of social media.
